Recap of Christmas in the Village: A Celebration in Manotick

This year’s Christmas in the Village in Manotick was a fun-filled event, beginning with the Kiwanis Club Parade of Lights.The parade was emceed by local youth Anabelle Gordon, Brielle Belair, and Kayleigh Buwalda, who brought energy and enthusiasm to the evening.

Highlights of the parade included decorated Jeeps, volunteer firefighters, and Bentley, the dog rescued after being missing in November.

Councillor David Brown joined the festivities, bringing the City of Ottawa float to the parade. Later, both he and Mayor Mark Sutcliffe attended the tree lighting ceremony.

 

 

Mayor Sutcliffe had the honor of lighting the tree, an exciting moment that delighted the crowd as carolers sang holiday favorites.

Throughout Saturday, local businesses hosted a variety of activities.

Lollies + Scoops launched their deluxe hot chocolate bar with melted chocolate, offering a cozy treat for visitors.

 

 

692 Coffee & Bar kept the festive spirit alive with an outdoor hot chocolate bar and firepit, creating a warm gathering spot for attendees.

 

 

Black Dog Bistro’s Brunch with the Grinch was a crowd favorite, drawing families eager to share a meal with the holiday character.

 

 

Miller’s Oven hosted their classic Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus, which brought smiles and joy to local families.


 

For holiday shoppers, three distinct markets added to the festive atmosphere.The teen market at Lume Club highlighted local youth entrepreneurs and their creative offerings.

 

 

Christmas markets at St. James Anglican Church and Watson’s Mill showcased seasonal goods and handmade gifts, perfect for holiday giving.

 

 

Several local businesses gave back during the season; Tom’s Garage collected donations for Mittens for Mikey, bringing essential clothing and winter gear to the Ottawa Mission.

 

 

Santa made his appearance during the day, giving families the chance to share their Christmas wishes and snap photos.

 

 

 

Christmas in the Village was a wonderful celebration of community, local businesses, and the holiday season.
